For the first time, some thirty works by François Chapelain-Midy will be exhibited in Paris, in the Grandes serres of the Jardin des Plantes from October 3, 2019 to January 6, 2020. Distributed in the 4 greenhouses of the garden, the sculptures will be revealed in detour of an alley, between the foliage or enthroned in the middle of a solid mass.
These dreamy insects frozen in the bronze list an entomological bestiary both chiseled and patinated. They are stylized beings, enlarged, softened by the material which evokes the leather or the ebony to take the appearance of pieces of goldsmith's work.
Let yourself be tempted by a stroll in search of the poetic bestiary of François Chapelain-Midy evoking beetles, chafers, beetles, crickets and kites in bronze chiseled and patinated ranging from brown to green, very varied form the largest up to at 2m50 and a few centimeters for the smaller ones.
